What does that have to do with the Feast of Trumpets that we are observing today?
Isaiah 27:12 And it shall come to pass in that day That the LORD will thresh, From the channel of the River to the Brook of Egypt; And you will be gathered one by one, O you children of Israel.
Isaiah 27:13 So it shall be in that day: The great trumpet will be blown; ….
It is part of what this time is leading up to:
Purpose for the Trumpet
Joel 2:1 Blow the trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; For the day of the LORD is coming, For it is at hand:
Joel 2:2 A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of clouds and thick darkness, Like the morning clouds spread over the mountains. A people come, great and strong, The like of whom has never been; Nor will there ever be any such after them, Even for many successive generations.
Why is this part of the Gospel? Why do we speak about these things? Why does God have His prophets and preachers announcing these calamities?
2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
2 Peter 3:11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,
2 Peter 3:12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?
2 Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
It is a matter of cause and effect: As we go through today it is matter of knowing: what is coming, who it is coming upon, why it is coming and how to avoid it.
Also, we always need to keep at the forefront of our mind, that God does what He does for the overall good of everyone!
Hebrews 12:11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
What everyone will have to go through can be fixed, but the lessons and understanding will remain.
God is able to resurrect the dead and wipe away tears and sorrow and crying in the end.
Revelation 21:4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
Let’s begin, by way of introduction, by going back to the first Exodus and highlight a few things:
The First Exodus
God brought Israel out of Egypt
It coincided with the Feast days of Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread and of course the Night to be Much Remembered.
How many people in the first exodus
Exodus 12:37 Then the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides children.
Couple of years later 603,550 able bodied warriors
Numbers 1:45 So all who were numbered of the children of Israel, by their fathers’ houses, from twenty years old and above, all who were able to go to war in Israel—
Numbers 1:46 all who were numbered were six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.
Based on this we can probably assume that there were about four times that many people over all or about 2.5 million people or more if we consider their previous rate of growth and the fact that some Egyptians went with them.
They wandered for 40 years though it was only about a 10 day journey
Brief History in the Promised Land
Saul, David and Solomon as Kings over the entire land of Israel and then it split
Israel
Captivity by Assyria about 721-718 bc give or take
Never to return to the land, instead they scatter to the north and west
Judah
Captivity by Babylon c.586 bc ~135 years later
They returned 70 years later as a vassal state
Since Judah went into captivity, neither Judah nor Israel has possessed the land in reality, not even today when you think of the deal they had to strike in regards to the temple mount.
These facts are crucial to know when we start evaluating prophecy and one of the meanings of today
First Exodus will not Compare with What’s to Come
The second Exodus will be so momentous that the original exodus from Egypt will pale in comparison:
Jeremiah 16:14 “Therefore behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD, “that it shall no more be said, ‘The LORD lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,’
All the events and miracles surrounding the Exodus will be overshadowed by what is to come next:
Jeremiah 16:15 but, ‘The LORD lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north and from all the lands where He had driven them.’ For I will bring them back into their land which I gave to their fathers.
But before He does that:
Jeremiah 16:16 “Behold, I will send for many fishermen,” says the LORD, “and they shall fish them; and afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain and every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.
Jeremiah 16:17 For My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from My face, nor is their iniquity hidden from My eyes.
Jeremiah 16:18 And first I will repay double for their iniquity and their sin, because they have defiled My land; they have filled My inheritance with the carcasses of their detestable and abominable idols.”
Jeremiah 16:19 O LORD, my strength and my fortress, My refuge in the day of affliction, The Gentiles shall come to You From the ends of the earth and say, “Surely our fathers have inherited lies, Worthlessness and unprofitable things.”
Jeremiah 16:20 Will a man make gods for himself, Which are not gods?
Jeremiah 16:21 “Therefore behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know My hand and My might; And they shall know that My name is the LORD.
Jeremiah 23:7 “Therefore, behold, the days are coming,” says the LORD, “that they shall no longer say, ‘As the LORD lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,’
Jeremiah 23:8 but, ‘As the LORD lives who brought up and led the descendants of the house of Israel from the north country and from all the countries where I had driven them.’ And they shall dwell in their own land.”
Modern Day Israel
Who are they (see United States and United Kingdom prophecy messages Part 1, Part 2)
Where are they now?
How many now?
Only God knows truly
Hard to imagine that this could happen…
Going Into Captivity
Jeremiah 30:1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
Jeremiah 30:2 “Thus speaks the LORD God of Israel, saying: ‘Write in a book for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you.
Jeremiah 30:3 For behold, the days are coming,’ says the LORD, ‘that I will bring back from captivity My people Israel and Judah,’ says the LORD. ‘And I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.’ “
This means neither one of them will be there for God to return them there
Jeremiah 30:4 Now these are the words that the Lord spoke concerning Israel and Judah.
Jeremiah 30:5 “For thus says the LORD: ‘We have heard a voice of trembling, Of fear, and not of peace.
Jeremiah 30:6 Ask now, and see, Whether a man is ever in labor with child? So why do I see every man with his hands on his loins Like a woman in labor, And all faces turned pale?
Jeremiah 30:7 Alas! For that day is great, So that none is like it; And it is the time of Jacob’s trouble, But he shall be saved out of it.
The name Jacob implies that it is for both Israel and Judah. If the name Israel was used it could refer to just the northern 10 tribes even though it can sometimes mean all 12 tribes.
Jeremiah 30:8 ‘For it shall come to pass in that day,’ Says the LORD of hosts, ‘That I will break his yoke from your neck, And will burst your bonds; Foreigners shall no more enslave them.
All symbols of captivity
Jeremiah 30:9 But they shall serve the LORD their God, And David their king, Whom I will raise up for them.
He will be resurrected at a future time to be king over Israel
Jeremiah 30:10 ‘Therefore do not fear, O My servant Jacob,’ says the LORD, ‘Nor be dismayed, O Israel; For behold, I will save you from afar, And your seed from the land of their captivity. Jacob shall return, have rest and be quiet, And no one shall make him afraid.
Jeremiah 30:11 For I am with you,’ says the LORD, ‘to save you; Though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you, Yet I will not make a complete end of you. But I will correct you in justice, And will not let you go altogether unpunished.’
For Cause
Israel and Judah were to be corrected for a reason
Ezekiel 36:16 Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying:
Ezekiel 36:17 “Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own ways and deeds; to Me their way was like the uncleanness of a woman in her customary impurity.
Ezekiel 36:18 Therefore I poured out My fury on them for the blood they had shed on the land, and for their idols with which they had defiled it.
Ezekiel 36:19 So I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed throughout the countries; I judged them according to their ways and their deeds.
Ezekiel 36:20 When they came to the nations, wherever they went, they profaned My holy name—when they said of them, ‘These are the people of the LORD, and yet they have gone out of His land.
Ezekiel 36:21 But I had concern for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations wherever they went.
Leviticus 26:14 ‘But if you do not obey Me, and do not observe all these commandments,
Leviticus 26:15 and if you despise My statutes, or if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not perform all My commandments, but break My covenant,
Leviticus 26:16 I also will do this to you: I will even appoint terror over you, wasting disease and fever which shall consume the eyes and cause sorrow of heart. And you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
Leviticus 26:17 I will set My face against you, and you shall be defeated by your enemies. Those who hate you shall reign over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you.
This seems hard to believe given the greatness the US has enjoyed in its recent history
Leviticus 26:18 ‘And after all this, if you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.
Leviticus 26:24 then I also will walk contrary to you, and I will punish you yet seven times for your sins.
Leviticus 26:28 then I also will walk contrary to you in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.
God is among other things bound by what He said that He will do.
Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
It will be bad! (Jacob’s Trouble)
Jeremiah 30:7 Alas! For that day is great, So that none is like it; And it is the time of Jacob’s trouble, But he shall be saved out of it.
Matthew 24:21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Matthew 24:22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.
Luke 21:20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.
Luke 21:21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her.
Luke 21:22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
Luke 21:23 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! For there will be great distress in the land and wrath upon this people.
Luke 21:24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled [Revelation 11:2] by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. [The Gentiles have ruled since the time of the image of Daniel which prophesied about them].
For How Long?
Revelation 11:2 But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months.
Only a few will make it
Romans 9:27 Isaiah also cries out concerning Israel: “THOUGH THE NUMBER OF THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL BE AS THE SAND OF THE SEA, THE REMNANT WILL BE SAVED.
Isaiah 10:20 And it shall come to pass in that day That the remnant of Israel, And such as have escaped of the house of Jacob, Will never again depend on him who defeated them, But will depend on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.
Isaiah 10:21 The remnant will return, the remnant of Jacob, To the Mighty God.
Isaiah 10:22 For though your people, O Israel, be as the sand of the sea, A remnant of them will return; The destruction decreed shall overflow with righteousness.
Isaiah 10:23 For the Lord GOD of hosts Will make a determined end In the midst of all the land.
Only a small portion in this life time will be saved
Romans 9:28 FOR HE WILL FINISH THE WORK AND CUT IT SHORT IN RIGHTEOUSNESS, BECAUSE THE LORD WILL MAKE A SHORT WORK UPON THE EARTH.”
Romans 9:29 And as Isaiah said before: “UNLESS THE LORD OF SABAOTH HAD LEFT US A SEED [a very small remnant to start growing from], WE WOULD HAVE BECOME LIKE SODOM, AND WE WOULD HAVE BEEN MADE LIKE GOMORRAH.”
Isaiah 1:9 Unless the LORD of hosts Had left to us a very small remnant, We would have become like Sodom, We would have been made like Gomorrah.
Only a Small Fraction of Israel and Judah will Survive
Ezekiel 5:1 “And you, son of man, take a sharp sword, take it as a barber’s razor, and pass it over your head and your beard; then take scales to weigh and divide the hair.
Ezekiel 5:2 You shall burn with fire one-third in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are finished; then you shall take one-third and strike around it with the sword, and one-third you shall scatter in the wind: I will draw out a sword after them.
Prophetic symbol which is explained later in the chapter
Ezekiel 5:3 You shall also take a small number of them and bind them in the edge of your garment.
These are those in God’s church. Many will be given protection from the tribulation [Revelation 3:10]. But there will be those that have accepted the calling by God but at the time of the end they will have a lackadaisical and “luke-warm” attitude [Revelation 3:16-17] that will require further testing, which is why some of them will be thrown in the midst of the fire [Revelation 3:18; Ezekiel 5:4]
Ezekiel 5:4 Then take some of them again and throw them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire. From there a fire will go out into all the house of Israel.
Ezekiel 5:5 “Thus says the Lord GOD: ‘This is Jerusalem [Israel and Judah]; I have set her in the midst of the nations and the countries all around her.
WHY? THE CAUSE:
Ezekiel 5:6 She has rebelled against My judgments by doing wickedness more than the nations, and against My statutes more than the countries that are all around her; for they have refused My judgments, and they have not walked in My statutes.’
Ezekiel 5:7 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: ‘Because you have multiplied disobedience more than the nations that are all around you, have not walked in My statutes nor kept My judgments, nor even done according to the judgments of the nations that are all around you’—
Ezekiel 5:8 therefore thus says the Lord GOD: ‘Indeed I, even I, am against you and will execute judgments in your midst in the sight of the nations.
Ezekiel 5:9 And I will do among you what I have never done, and the like of which I will never do again, because of all your abominations.
This is how bad it will get:
Ezekiel 5:10 Therefore fathers shall eat their sons in your midst, and sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments among you, and all of you who remain I will scatter to all the winds.
Ezekiel 5:11 ‘Therefore, as I live,’ says the Lord GOD, ‘surely, because you have defiled My sanctuary with all your detestable things and with all your abominations, therefore I will also diminish you; My eye will not spare, nor will I have any pity.
THE INTERPRETATION
Ezekiel 5:12 One-third of you shall die of the pestilence, and be consumed with famine in your midst; and one-third shall fall by the sword all around you; and I will scatter another third to all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.
Ezekiel 5:13 ‘Thus shall My anger be spent, and I will cause My fury to rest upon them, and I will be avenged; and they shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken it in My zeal, when I have spent My fury upon them.
Ezekiel 5:14 Moreover I will make you a waste and a reproach among the nations that are all around you, in the sight of all who pass by.
Ezekiel 5:15 ‘So it shall be a reproach, a taunt, a lesson, and an astonishment to the nations that are all around you, when I execute judgments among you in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I, the LORD, have spoken.
Ezekiel 5:16 When I send against them the terrible arrows of famine which shall be for destruction, which I will send to destroy you, I will increase the famine upon you and cut off your supply of bread.
Ezekiel 5:17 So I will send against you famine and wild beasts, and they will bereave you. Pestilence and blood shall pass through you, and I will bring the sword against you. I, the LORD, have spoken.’ “
But, that’s not all…
2/3 already died and the other third has a “sword drawn out after them” what does that mean
Isaiah 6:11 Then I said, “Lord, how long?” And He answered: “Until the cities are laid waste and without inhabitant, The houses are without a man, The land is utterly desolate,
Isaiah 6:12 The LORD has removed men far away, And the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land.
Isaiah 6:13 But yet a tenth will be in it, And will return and be for consuming, As a terebinth tree or as an oak, Whose stump remains when it is cut down. So the holy seed shall be its stump.”
It appears that only 1/10 of the remaining 1/3 will survive or 1/30 of the total number at that time.
But, it is not all bad news…
The only hope Jacob has in Great Tribulation
Jeremiah 30:7 Alas! For that day is great, So that none is like it; And it is the time of Jacob’s trouble, But he shall be saved out of it.
The Second Exodus – Part 2
Other Uses for the Trumpet
Besides war which was mentioned before:
Numbers 10:3 When they blow both of them, all the congregation shall gather before you at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.
Numbers 10:4 But if they blow only one, then the leaders, the heads of the divisions of Israel, shall gather to you.
Numbers 10:5 When you sound the advance, the camps that lie on the east side shall then begin their journey.
Numbers 10:6 When you sound the advance the second time, then the camps that lie on the south side shall begin their journey; they shall sound the call for them to begin their journeys.
Where are They to be Held Captive
Isaiah 11:11 It shall come to pass in that day That the Lord shall set His hand again the second time….
God was their deliverer in the past too
Exodus 6:6 Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the LORD; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.
Christ is going to do this at His return for the second time.
1 Corinthians 10:4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.
Isaiah 11:11…To recover the remnant of His people who are left, From Assyria and Egypt, From Pathros and Cush, From Elam and Shinar, From Hamath and the islands of the sea.
The peoples will predominantly come out of Assyria which is why they are mentioned first
Modern day Assyria is the Germanic people of Europe which is located in NW from Jerusalem.
Isaiah 49:12 Surely these shall come from afar; Look! Those from the north and the west, And these from the land of Sinim.”
Egypt appears to be another focal spot from which Israel and Judah will come from and/or funnel through.
Not too far away from Egypt, these two are regionally close. If you follow the western edge of the Red sea out of Egypt you will go through Pathros and then Cush
- Pathros – Original land of Egypt, southern Egypt
- Cush – Sudan and Ethiopia
- Elam – Iran, also referred to as Persia
- Shinar – Iraq, Mesopotamia, northeastern Syria and southeastern Turkey
- Hamath – Northwestern Syria
“The islands of the sea” – can also be translated “coastlands of the sea”
Some think it to mean: from all around the world and others the Israelitish nations of Australia and New Zealand. But the other possible meaning, especially considering that all the names seem to be paired regionally, is that it is the islands and/or coastlands of the Mediterranean, possibly including Greece (Joel 3:6).
Isaiah 11:12 He will set up a banner [for direction] for the nations, And will assemble the outcasts (Jeremiah 30:17; Isaiah 27:13) of Israel, And gather together the dispersed of Judah From the four corners of the earth.
How did they get to all of these places
There are a couple of possibilities:
Beast power will participate in slavery and sell to those regions
Revelation 18:13 and cinnamon and incense, fragrant oil and frankincense, wine and oil, fine flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and bodies and souls of men.
Or as the beast power conquers it may need labor forces and this is how modern-day Israel and Judah become transplanted down there.
Daniel 11:40 “At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North [beast power] shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through.Daniel 11
:41 He shall also enter the Glorious Land, and many countries shall be overthrown; but these shall escape from his hand: Edom, Moab, and the prominent people of Ammon. [Possibly saved for Israel and Judah’s benefit later: Isaiah 11:14]
Daniel 11:42 He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape.
Daniel 11:43 He shall have power over the treasures of gold and silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt; also the Libyans and Ethiopians shall follow at his heels.
Remuneration
Isaiah 11:13 Also the envy of Ephraim shall depart, And the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off; Ephraim shall not envy Judah, And Judah shall not harass Ephraim.
Isaiah 11:14 But they shall fly down upon the shoulder of the Philistines toward the west; Together they shall plunder the people of the East; They shall lay their hand on Edom and Moab; And the people of Ammon shall obey them.
Like the Israelites leaving Egypt they will get back what is rightfully theirs.
Exodus 12:33 And the Egyptians urged the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste. For they said, “We shall all be dead.”
Exodus 12:34 So the people took their dough before it was leavened, having their kneading bowls bound up in their clothes on their shoulders.
Exodus 12:35 Now the children of Israel had done according to the word of Moses, and they had asked from the Egyptians articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothing.
Exodus 12:36 And the LORD had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they granted them what they requested. Thus they plundered the Egyptians.
The Egyptians, after all that God had brought upon them in terms of plagues, were pushing them out the door, before they would all find themselves dead too like the firstborn.
So they gave them silver and gold and etc. In a sense it was payment for all they had done.
Following that:
Like it was in the day they crossed the Red Sea on Dry ground
Isaiah 11:15 The LORD will utterly destroy the tongue of the Sea of Egypt [Red Sea]; With His mighty wind He will shake His fist over the River, And strike it in[to] the seven streams, And make men cross over dryshod.
What does that bring to mind? The first exodus once again
Also compare
Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.
Isaiah 43:16 Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea And a path through the mighty waters,
Isaiah 11:16 There will be a highway for the remnant of His people Who will be left from Assyria, As it was for Israel In the day that he came up from the land of Egypt.
Just like the Israelites did when they left Egypt at the time of the first Exodus
When will this happen
Isaiah 27:12 And it shall come to pass in that day That the LORD will thresh, From the channel of the River to the Brook of Egypt; And you will be gathered one by one, O you children of Israel.
Isaiah 27:13 So it shall be in that day: The great trumpet will be blown; They will come, who are about to perish in the land of Assyria, And they who are outcasts in the land of Egypt, And shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.
Specifically and personally gathered up; in that day at the blowing of the great trumpet; out of Assyrian and Egypt; brought back to the land promised to them in the first place.
Matthew 24:29 “Immediately after the tribulation [5th Seal] of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.[6th Seal] Matthew 24:30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. [7th Seal, which are the 7 trumpets and then the 7 plagues] Matthew 24:31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Both will come out together
Jeremiah 3:18 “In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I have given as an inheritance to your fathers.
So neither the Jews or the modern-day Israelites will be in this the land of Canaan or the area of modern day Israel.
This is the time that they will both come back together into the land since around 718 bc when Israel, the northern 10 tribes, went into captivity. And there they will become a single nation again, which hasn’t happen since even before then!
Jeremiah 30:3 For behold, the days are coming,’ says the LORD, ‘that I will bring back from captivity My people Israel and Judah,’ says the LORD. ‘And I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.’ “
One Last Sifting
As they approach the promised land there will be one last sifting:
Ezekiel 20:33 “As I live,” says the Lord GOD, “surely with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out, I will rule over you.
Ezekiel 20:34 I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you are scattered, with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out.
Ezekiel 20:35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will plead My case with you face to face.
Ezekiel 20:36 Just as I pleaded My case with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will plead My case with you,” says the Lord GOD.
Ezekiel 20:37 “I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant;
Ezekiel 20:38 I will purge the rebels from among you, and those who transgress against Me; I will bring them out of the country where they dwell, but they shall not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
God up to this point has not been indiscriminately killing people, but rather selecting a “small group” or a seed [Romans 9:29] to re-plant in the area of Jerusalem to start growing His people again.
This is what God was doing before, a sorting, the others He will resurrect at a later time.
Amos 9:9 “For surely I will command, And will sift the house of Israel among all nations, As grain is sifted in a sieve; Yet not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground.
Amos 9:10 All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, Who say, ‘The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.’
He wants to start over with those that want to be a part of His way of life
Mourning Turns to Joy
Because of the steps that God took with Israel and Judah, they have come to see the errors of their ways and see the truth in God’s.
Jeremiah 31:7 For thus says the LORD: “Sing with gladness for Jacob, And shout among the chief of the nations; Proclaim, give praise, and say, ‘O LORD, save Your people, The remnant of Israel!’
Jeremiah 31:8 Behold, I will bring them from the north country, And gather them from the ends of the earth, Among them the blind and the lame, The woman with child And the one who labors with child, together; A great throng shall return there.
Jeremiah 31:9 They shall come with weeping, And with supplications I will lead them. I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters, In a straight way in which they shall not stumble; For I am a Father to Israel, And Ephraim is My firstborn.
Jeremiah 31:10 “Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, And declare it in the isles afar off, and say, ‘He who scattered Israel will gather him, And keep him as a shepherd does his flock.’
Jeremiah 31:11 For the LORD has redeemed Jacob, And ransomed him from the hand of one stronger than he.
The Tribulation has had the desired effect and now they are ready and willing to listen and follow God
Reminiscent of Hebrews 12:11 and other verses in that chapter
This is all for the good
It has brought forth Repentance; a turning to God – which is by far more important than our physical comfort or our distress
Jeremiah 31:18 “I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself: ‘You have chastised me, and I was chastised, Like an untrained bull; Restore me, and I will return, For You are the LORD my God.
Jeremiah 31:19 Surely, after my turning, I repented; And after I was instructed, I struck myself on the thigh; I was ashamed, yes, even humiliated, Because I bore the reproach of my youth.’
Jeremiah 31:20 Is Ephraim My dear son? [in effect do you remember who you are] Is he a pleasant child? For though I spoke against him, I earnestly remember him still [God has not forgotten]; Therefore My heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy on him, says the LORD.
Jeremiah 31:21 “Set up signposts, Make landmarks; Set your heart toward the highway, The way in which you went. Turn back, O virgin of Israel, Turn back to these your cities.
A change of heart before they start back to the home land
Restoration
God in His mercy will bring about peace and prosperity as He makes things the way they should be, the way that they were before
Made Whole
