There is no doubt about the pagan origin of Christmas and all its trappings.
The word “Christmas” is not found in the Bible
When was Jesus Born?
(It is NOT definitive)
Jesus not born on December 25th
This is an accepted fact by christianity
Shepherds in the field (Luke 2:7-8). Weather is not conducive to shepherds (and flocks) living in the fields at that time of the year in Judea.
Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Luke 2:8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.
Joseph and Mary were in Bethlehem for a Roman census (Luke 2:1-4).
Luke 2:1 And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered.
Luke 2:2 This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria.
Luke 2:3 So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.
Luke 2:4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,
Luke 2:5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.
Census’ were not called at this time of the year (December) because of poor traveling conditions
When was John the Baptist born?
John the Baptist probably born around March
Zacharias serving in temple around June 13-19 (course of Abijah) (Luke 1:5)
Luke 1:5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
Most likely a March baby
Luke 1:31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS.
Luke 1:32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.
Luke 1:33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
Luke 1:34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”
Luke 1:35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.
Luke 1:36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.
Luke 1:39 Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah,
Luke 1:40 and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth.
Luke 1:41 And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Luke 1:42 Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
So approximately six months after John the Baptist was born.
Jesus born around more likely September/October
Why December 25th?
Constantine chooses
“Variations of this pagan holiday flourished throughout the first few centuries after Jesus Christ, but it probably wasn’t until 336 AD that Emperor Constantine officially converted this pagan tradition into the “Christian” holiday of Christmas.”
Where did Constantine get it from?
“The date of December 25th probably originated with the ancient “birthday” of the son-god, Mithra, a pagan deity whose religious influence became widespread in the Roman Empire during the first few centuries A.D. Mithra was related to the Semitic sun-god, Shamash, and his worship spread throughout Asia to Europe where he was called Deus Sol Invictus Mithras. Rome was well-known for absorbing the pagan religions and rituals of its widespread empire. As such, Rome converted this pagan legacy to a celebration of the god, Saturn, and the rebirth of the sun god during the winter solstice period. The winter holiday became known as Saturnalia and began the week prior to December 25th. The festival was characterized by gift-giving, feasting, singing and downright debauchery, as the priests of Saturn carried wreaths of evergreen boughs in procession throughout the Roman temples.”
Constantine convened the council of Nicea in 325AD to settle some issues of division within the christian community. He foresaw that religion could do more damage than war. So in an effort of trying to unify the empire he brought together the leading clergy to address such issues as the nature of God and what day to keep “Easter” (they changed it from the “floating” calendar of the Jews)
Of course you cannot have true religion by consensus.
In a similar effort Constantine, a worshipper of the Roman gods, sought to bring pagans and christians together by declaring and worshipping the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25th which was the day he celebrated the birth of Mithras!
Thus began the celebration of Christmas in the christian community.
Who is Mithras?
A Persian god accepted by the Romans
At that time of year there was sun-worship to encourage longer days and worship of Saturnalia, Brumalia, Bacchanalia, Saturn and Baal (means Lord).
Goes all the way back to Nimrod (who built the tower to the heavens) and his mom, Semiramis and brother, Tammuz
Nimrod killed by Seth or Esau
Semiramis says new shoots coming out of an old stump was a sign of Nimrod’s rebirth as Tammuz
Babylonian religion that has persisted
Rebranded through the years
All the symbols surrounding the day are pagan (Christmas dishonors Christ in every way)
- Christmas tree – Germanic legend talks of people finding presents left by Odin under a holy tree; Semiramis’ claim;
1 Kings 14:22 Now Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked Him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, more than all that their fathers had done.
1 Kings 14:23 For they also built for themselves high places, sacred pillars, and wooden images on every high hill and under every green tree.
Pagans believed that gods became trees or inhabited them
It is the foundation of the Christmas tree and tree worship
Jeremiah 10:2 Thus says the LORD: “Do not learn the way of the Gentiles; Do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, For the Gentiles are dismayed at them.
Jeremiah 10:3 For the customs of the peoples are futile; For one cuts a tree from the forest, The work of the hands of the workman, with the ax.
Jeremiah 10:4 They decorate it with silver and gold; They fasten it with nails and hammers So that it will not topple.
Jeremiah 10:5 They are upright, like a palm tree, And they cannot speak; They must be carried, Because they cannot go by themselves. Do not be afraid of them, For they cannot do evil, Nor can they do any good.”
-
- Santa (Odin/Wodan old man with a big hat, a wide coat, a long gray beard, riding a 8-legged horse)
- Gift-giving – left under the tree as a gift from Nimrod or Saturn or Odin
Shepherds
Luke 2:6-7 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Luke 2:12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
Luke 2:16 And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.
Wise Men
Matthew 2:1 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem,
Matthew 2:9 When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was.
Matthew 2:11 And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. (they gave gifts to Christ not each other)
Matthew 2:13-16 Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.” When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt, and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I called My Son.” Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.
-
- Mistletoe/Holly – sacred; fertility symbol; and the kissing was a precursor to the night’s events
- Yule log – log fires to honor the gods Odin (sun god) Thor (guess what time of the year that was)
- Carols – singing and doing plays were a part of the festivities
- Candles – used to frighten the spirits of darkness (now we have electronic ones)
- Etc
Deuteronomy 12:2 You shall utterly destroy all the places where the nations which you shall dispossess served their gods, on the high mountains and on the hills and under every green tree.
Deuteronomy 12:3 And you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and burn their wooden images with fire; you shall cut down the carved images of their gods and destroy their names from that place.
Deuteronomy 12:4 You shall not worship the LORD your God with such things.
Deuteronomy 12:29 “When the LORD your God cuts off from before you the nations which you go to dispossess, and you displace them and dwell in their land,
Deuteronomy 12:30 take heed to yourself that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do likewise.’
Deuteronomy 12:31 You shall not worship the LORD your God in that way; for every abomination to the LORD which He hates they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.
Deuteronomy 12:32 “Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it.
So what we see is a consistent false religion that began as a tool for misguiding and derailing people that is STILL alive and doing well today.
So-called Christianity knows this! What do they have to say for themselves? So now that they know this, they must come up with other reasons to do what they want (which is really what Satan wants) and not do what God wants.
YET YOU SAY: We are putting Christ BACK in Christmas;
Answer: we cannot put Christ back into somewhere that He never was
YET YOU SAY: Does the real date matter?
Calendars are important and God is very specific about when we are to worship Him
YET YOU SAY: We are celebrating His birth
Ecclesiastes 7:1 A good name is better than precious ointment, And the day of death than the day of one’s birth;
1 Corinthians 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. [Luke 22:15-20]
Observe Christ’s Death Until He Comes Not His So-Called Birth
YET YOU SAY: We acknowledge His birth with this festival
Exodus 32:1 Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him, “Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”
Exodus 32:2 And Aaron said to them, “Break off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.”
Exodus 32:3 So all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron.
Exodus 32:4 And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf. Then they said, “This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!”
Exodus 32:5 So when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a proclamation and said, “Tomorrow is a feast to the LORD.”
Exodus 32:6 Then they rose early on the next day, offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
Exodus 32:7 And the LORD said to Moses, “Go, get down! For your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves.
Exodus 32:8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molded calf, and worshiped it and sacrificed to it, and said, ‘This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!’ ”
Exodus 32:9 And the LORD said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and indeed it is a stiff-necked people!
Exodus 32:10 Now therefore, let Me alone, that My wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them.
LESSON: What happened to Israel for idolatry
1 Corinthians 10:1 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea,
1 Corinthians 10:2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,
1 Corinthians 10:3 all ate the same spiritual food,
1 Corinthians 10:4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.
1 Corinthians 10:5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
1 Corinthians 10:6 Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.
1 Corinthians 10:7 And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, “THE PEOPLE SAT DOWN TO EAT AND DRINK, AND ROSE UP TO PLAY.”
1 Corinthians 10:8 Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell;
1 Corinthians 10:9 nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents;
1 Corinthians 10:10 nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer.
1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.
1 Corinthians 10:12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
YET YOU SAY: It is what is MY heart that matters.
Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?
Jeremiah 17:10 I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.
Matthew 15:7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:
Matthew 15:8 ‘THESE PEOPLE DRAW NEAR TO ME WITH THEIR MOUTH, AND HONOR ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR FROM ME.
Matthew 15:9 AND IN VAIN THEY WORSHIP ME, [WHY?] TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE COMMANDMENTS OF MEN.’ “
Worship in Spirit and Truth
John 4:24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
John 17:17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
And you won’t find Christmas in here
Almost everything about Christmas is a lie
Christmas has nothing to do with Christ
Conclusion
Christmas is a lie in the name of religion
And the fruit of it is bad in so many ways
It is a commercially driven season that many end up paying for almost a year
church offerings go down
And many would love to give it up
What does God say we should do?
2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
2 Corinthians 6:15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?
2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I WILL DWELL IN THEM AND WALK AMONG THEM. I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.”
2 Corinthians 6:17 Therefore “COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM AND BE SEPARATE, SAYS THE LORD. DO NOT TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN, AND I WILL RECEIVE YOU.”
2 Corinthians 6:18 “I WILL BE A FATHER TO YOU, AND YOU SHALL BE MY SONS AND DAUGHTERS, SAYS THE LORD ALMIGHTY.”
2 Corinthians 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
