Fallen Angels

Did God Create a Devil? What about the Demons?

Ezekiel 28:11 Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Ezekiel 28:12 “Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre [not to be confused with the Prince of Tyre in this same chapter], and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “You were the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. [How Lucifer (connotation of light bringer, shining one and morning star]

Ezekiel 28:14
“You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones.
Ezekiel 28:15 You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, Till iniquity [sin] was found in you.
Ezekiel 28:16 “By the abundance of your trading You became filled with violence within, And you sinned; Therefore I cast you as a profane thing Out of the mountain of God; And I destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the fiery stones. [removed from this position of prominence]

Isaiah 14:13 For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north;

This is how and where the problem began. Pride, ego, creation believing he was greater than the creator.

Isaiah 14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’
Isaiah 14:15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit.
Isaiah 14:12 “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations!

The Difference between Lucifer and Satan

As discussed before, God created all the angels

He created them in a good state

Luke 10:18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. [this is when the name was changed to reflect a change in character; adversary]

Angels BECAME Demons (Fallen Angels)

Revelation 12:4 His tail drew a third of the stars [a reference to angels; Revelation 1:20] of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born.

After convincing himself, Satan convinced a third of the angels. How powerful is that. Thus the rebellion ensued

Satan’s relation to the one third: “the ruler of this world”; “his kingdom”; “his angels” [Quotes from the Bible]

Satan is NOT just a symbol of evil, but truly evil and powerful beings and the earth is their current domain.

And if he is that powerful how careful and aware should we be

The Power of Satan and His Demons

Ephesians 2:1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,
Ephesians 2:2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,
Ephesians 2:3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

2 Corinthians 4:3 But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,
2 Corinthians 4:4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

Revelation 12:9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

1 John 5:19 We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.

Do not be ignorant of his devices

Notice the admonition here:

2 Corinthians 2:11 lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Notice some of the devices are here:

Deuteronomy 18:9 “When you come into the land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations.
Deuteronomy 18:10 There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,
Deuteronomy 18:11 or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.
Deuteronomy 18:12 For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD, and because of these abominations the LORD your God drives them out from before you.

Leviticus 20:6 equates it with spiritual harlotry and going after “other gods”

We should never dabble in and should stay far away from: Séances, ouija boards, tarot cards, seers, clairvoyants, psychics and other communications with the dead, Wicca, voodoo, mysticism, magic, fortune tellers, haunted houses, “scary movies”, ESP, telepathy, remote viewing, telekinesis, hypnosis, chants, familiar spirits and obviously Satanic and pagan cults

1 Timothy 4:1 Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,

They DO have supernatural abilities and powers.

No overwhelming evidence in the Bible that they can materialize outside of possession.

They can tell the future (Paul dealt with one of those), do great signs and wonders (past and future).

One of the more common ones is the talking to “loved ones” “the dearly departed”

Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they will die; But the dead know nothing, And they have no more reward, For the memory of them is forgotten.

They deceive the unwitting by portraying themselves to be helpful, but once you invite them in they become more harmful and hurtful and exert a power over you that is physically impossible to get rid of.

Additional references: Luke 6:18; 11:24–26; Luke 22:3; John 13:27; Matthew 8:28; Mark 5:2–5; Luke 8:27; Mark 9:17, 25; Matthew 17:15–18; Luke 13:11, 16; Matthew 4:5, 8; Luke 4:5, 9.

We should know better than to try and interact with this spirit realm

They want us more than those in the world!

Do not give place to the devil

In the context of: Ephesians 4:26 “BE ANGRY, AND DO NOT SIN”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath,

Ephesians 4:27 nor give place to the devil.

(CEV) and don’t give the devil a chance.

Not just Satan but the demons as well

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Our fight

We are in many ways, that the world is not, wise to the devil. But we have other battles to fight. These are more subtle and are typically and assault on the truth

2 Corinthians 11:14 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. [a messenger of the truth to hide the deception that he inserts here and there].
2 Corinthians 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.
2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
2 Corinthians 11:4 For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted—you may well put up with it!

We do not have to fear

2 Kings 6:16 So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

We have tools at our disposal

Luke 10:17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”

Luke 10:18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. [this is when the name was changed to reflect a change in character; adversary] Luke 10:19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Jude 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”

Angels battle for us

Remember the Example of Daniel that we used last time

God Uses Satan and Demons for His Own Purposes

Example of Job

We learn a lot here

God allows / Satan obliges [not time and chance; it’s him]

Job 1:1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil.

Job 1:2-5 his possessions and the extent of his wealth
Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. [We are given insight into the character of Satan] Job 1:7 And the LORD said to Satan, “From where do you come?” [knowing good and well] So Satan answered the LORD and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”
Job 1:8 [Notice that God initiates this] Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?”
Job 1:9 So Satan answered the LORD and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing?
Job 1:10 Have You not made a hedge around him [I can just imagine Satan thinking he is conning God], around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.
Job 1:11 But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!” [Satan trying to be more clever than God, but it is God that is using Him for His purpose] Job 1:12 And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.” [God put boundaries and limitations on Satan] So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.
Job 1:13-19 Satan “touched” [as in stole destroyed and killed] the property, livestock, workers and even children of Job
Job 1:20 Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped.
Job 1:21 And he said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away [he understood correctly]; Blessed be the name of the LORD.”
Job 1:22 In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong [It was Satan].

What we see in this passage is that when it comes to the people of God (that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil.) God is involved intimately in the process and He allows Satan to do what he wants to do any way [this obviously goes for the demons as well].

As much as he didn’t want to, Satan stayed within the bounds set by God

Job 2:1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.
Job 2:2 And the LORD said to Satan, “From where do you come?” Satan answered the LORD and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.”
Job 2:3 Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, [again it is reiterated that Job is a] a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil? And still he holds fast to his integrity, although you incited Me against him, to destroy him without cause.” [This is what Satan does as an accuser of the brethren] Job 2:4 So Satan answered the LORD and said, “Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life. [steps it up a notch] Job 2:5 But stretch out Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will surely curse You to Your face!”
Job 2:6 And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand, but spare his life.” [again God set restraints on Satan that he HAD to abide by and DID.
Job 2:7 So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD, and struck Job with painful boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.

God allowed this

Job 2:10 But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.

when we are “touched” by the devil it is because God has allowed it and it is for a purpose.

James 5:11 Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.

God had a purpose in allowing this trial and in the end His Will was done:

Job 42:2 “I know that You can do everything, And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You. [accomplished even through Satan, a willing participant]

Job 42:6 Therefore I abhor myself, And repent in dust and ashes.”

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Satan wants to do this. He wants to tempt you beyond what you can bare and destroy you. But God limits the devil and his minions so that He may test you and help you to grow in Godly and holy righteous character.

To put it simply: Satan tempts hoping you will fail and God tests hoping you will pass.

The Fate of Satan and His Demons

Luke 20:36 nor can they die anymore, for they are equal to the angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.

Some confuse Prince of Tyre and the King of Tyre

Prince of Tyre is the end-time false religious leader (2 Thessalonians 2:4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.)

With the King of Tyre who is Satan

Ezekiel 28:17 “Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, That they might gaze at you.
Ezekiel 28:18 “You defiled your sanctuaries By the multitude of your iniquities, By the iniquity of your trading; Therefore I brought fire from your midst; It devoured you, And I turned you to ashes upon the earth In the sight of all who saw you.

Matthew 8:28 When He had come to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass that way.
Matthew 8:29 And suddenly they cried out, saying, “What have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?” [this is what is in store for them] Matthew 8:30 Now a good way off from them there was a herd of many swine feeding.
Matthew 8:31 So the demons begged Him, saying, “If You cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of swine.”

Luke 8:30 Jesus asked him, saying, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion,” because many demons had entered him.
Luke 8:31 And they begged Him that He would not command them to go out into the abyss.

Romans 10:7 or, ” ‘WHO WILL DESCEND INTO THE ABYSS?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).

This is their fate at the beginning of the 1000

Revelation 20:1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Revelation 20:2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;
Revelation 20:3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.
Revelation 20:7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison
Revelation 20:10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet were. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Matthew 25:41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:

What Will be Satan’s Fate?

Some say that just Satan will be burnt up (as an act of mercy) and the angels will be tormented, so I am not sure how they reconcile that but they also say that he can divest himself of his eternity like Christ did, BUT there is NO scripture that backs that up.

So if there is any more in the Bible concerning their fate, we may see it in: Jude 1:13 …wandering stars for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.

Then they will no more be a factor

Revelation 11:15 Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!”
